Eligibility Criteria for Sponsorship – Briton Marines Shipping
Educational Qualification:
- Successful completion of 12th Standard (10+2) with an aggregate of more than 60% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM).
- A minimum of 50% in English.
- An overall aggregate of more than 60%.
- The candidate must have qualified or be appearing for the Indian Maritime University (IMU CET) examination, conducted twice annually.
Note: Candidates currently appearing for their 12th exams are eligible to apply only for the August IMU DNS Batch.
Medical Requirements:
- The candidate must be medically fit as per the standards set by the Directorate General of Shipping (DG Shipping), Government of India, IMU, and additional requirements specified by Briton Marines Shipping.
Important Note: Before commencing the course, the selected candidate must hold a valid Indian passport.
Important Instructions for DNS Selection – 2025
- IMU CET Examination: It is mandatory for all candidates to appear and qualify in the IMU Common Entrance Test (CET) for the 1-Year Deck Cadet (DNS) program.
- Pre-Sea Training: Candidates will undergo Pre-Sea Training at an institute selected by Briton Marines Shipping.
- Training Fees: Training fees will be applicable as per the institute’s policies.
- Eligibility:
- Candidates should have passed their 12th class board exams on the first attempt.
- Candidates awaiting results may also apply for the Sponsorship Examination.
- Shipboard Training Enrolment: Candidates must enrol in a DGS-approved Structured Shipboard Training Programme (SSTP).
- Unfair Means & False Representations: Any candidate found using unfair means will be disqualified.
- Medical and Eyecare Standards: Stringent standards must be met as per DG Shipping regulations.
- Psychometric Test: Candidates must undergo a psychometric test post-interview at their own expense.
- Online Test for Eligible Candidates: Online tests will be conducted, and login credentials will be communicated via email.
- Interview Documentation: Candidates must bring the original mark sheets of 10th and 12th class, IMU CET admit card, and other relevant documents.
- Expenses During Selection Procedure: Candidates must cover travel, accommodation, and meal expenses.
- Seat Booking: Selected candidates must confirm their seat by making the required payment.
- Selection Process: The selection criteria are at the sole discretion of Briton Marines Shipping.
- Fee Payment: Once paid, fees are non-refundable.

Selection Process for DNS Program – 2025
Step 1: Apply Online
Visit our official website www.britonmarine.com and submit your application online.
Step 2: Online Examination
Upon successful application, you will receive a link via email for an online examination. This can be taken from any location with a stable internet connection. The login details and further instructions will be provided in the email. Ensure you provide accurate credentials (email and phone number) for communication.
Step 3: Personal Interview
If you clear the online test as per the required marks, you will receive an email invitation to attend a personal interview at our location. The venue details will be shared with you via email. Please note that the interview venue and date are decided at the sole discretion of Briton Marines Shipping, and candidates cannot request a preferred date.
Step 4: Medical Examination
Candidates selected in the personal interview will undergo a medical test conducted by the company’s panel doctor.
Step 5: Final Selection Notification
Once all stages are completed, the final selection will be communicated via email, taking into account your academic scores, online examination results, interview performance, and medical examination outcome.
Step 6: Seat Booking and Document Submission
Selected candidates will be required to pay a seat booking amount to reserve their spot. Additionally, they will need to submit the necessary documents as requested by Briton Marines Shipping or send them to the designated address.
Step 7: Sponsorship and Admission Letter
After the seat booking payment is confirmed, a sponsorship letter will be issued by Briton Marines Shipping, and an admission letter will be provided by our Associate DG Shipping approved institute. These documents will enable candidates to apply for education loans if required.

About the Online Entrance Test – Briton Marines Shipping
The online entrance exam conducted by Briton Marines Shipping is a 2-hour online assessment. The exam will consist of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) based on the following syllabus. The cutoff marks will be communicated to you via email, along with the login credentials for the online test.
